Multi-Agency Partnership Formed to Uncover Leads in the Avra Valley Jane Doe Case

January 2nd, 2024

DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy is honored to collaborate with the Pima County (AZ) Office of the Medical Examiner to utilize Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) in generating leads towards the identification of Avra Valley Jane Doe 1984.

Discovered on November 5, 1984, the remains of this 50 to 85-year-old unidentified female were found burned within a trash-filled cistern in the desert near Avra Valley, Arizona. She is believed to be a victim of homicide. The condition of her remains proved a challenge and has hindered her identification for over 39 years.

In a strategic alliance, DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy and a team of independent FIGG analysts have partnered with Intermountain Forensics to leverage their newly established Law Enforcement DNA Testing Fund to cover lab costs. A generous donation from Align Senior Care Consulting, earmarked for identifying elderly John and Jane Does, directly supports this collaborative effort.
