Misattributed Parentage (aka. MPE aka Not Parent Expected aka NPE)

These cases commonly occur when an individual takes an at-home DNA test and discovers that a person they believed to be their parent is not their actual biological parent (or grandparent...or great-grandparent). This is more common than people realize and often carries significant emotional weight as it uncovers previously unknown and shocking information that can threaten existing familiar relationships all-around. My role is to provide the client with answers, identify their biological ancestor, and offer practical guidance on how to delicately navigate newly discovered family connections for the best possible outcome.

Adoption

Adoptees, unlike MPEs (Misattributed Parentage Events), are typically already aware of their biological situation and require assistance primarily in identifying their birth parents. However, it's essential to recognize that reaching out to a birth family can be a delicate and emotional process. Similar to MPE cases, the primary focus remains on identifying the birth parents, but equally important is guiding the client through the most effective approaches for initiating contact and establishing connections in a way that produces the best possible outcomes.
