Multi-Agency Partnership Formed to Uncover Leads in the "Gila County Arizona John Doe 1988" Case

May 30th, 2024

DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy is honored to partner once again with the Pima County (AZ) Office of the Medical Examiner to utilize Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) in generating leads towards the identification of Gila County Arizona John Doe 1988.

According to NamUs, the remains of this unidentified male, aged between 45-55 years old, were discovered by hunters on March 17th, 1988 in a remote mountainous region. He appears to have been back-packing through the area, and had quite a few personal items in his possession (see NamUs entry for item details). He has remained unidentified for over thirty-six years.

In a strategic alliance, DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy along with a team of independent FIGG analysts have partnered with Intermountain Forensics to establish a fundraising portal where donations can be made by the public to cover the necessary lab costs on these cases. Work like this would not be possible without these generous donations.  Thank you.
