Multi-Agency Partnership Formed to Uncover Leads in the Mesquite Tree John Doe Case

March 14th, 2024

DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy is honored to collaborate with the Pima County (AZ) Office of the Medical Examiner to utilize Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) in generating leads towards the identification of Mesquite Tree John Doe 1982.

Discovered on September 5th, 1982, the cranial remains of this 25 to 40-year-old unidentified male were found beneath a mesquite tree in a desert area near Tucson, Arizona. He is believed to be a victim of homicide.

In a strategic alliance, DNAhawkshaw Genetic Genealogy along with a team of independent FIGG analysts have partnered with Intermountain Forensics to leverage a newly established fundraising portal where donations can be made to cover lab costs. Generous donations from individual donors directly support this collaborative effort.
